In Lovosero, Russia the climate is cold where sunlight is rarely exposed to the people living there. Here, this photo showing three children, all wearing goggles, in a room full of blue light is an example of modern medicine.

The blue light is actually UV radiation, and it's being used to simulate for the children the effects of the sun itself. This UV exposure is for minute or two but it provides them the required vitamin D which is a large component of bone development.
