Bhutan: A Visual Odyssey across the Last Himalayan Kingdom holds the Guinness World Record for being the largest published book in the world. This giant book is 5 x 7 feet and weighs 133 pounds.

This spectacular 112 pages book showcases a variety of digital, photographic and printing techniques. For this teams from M.I.T. and Friendly Planet took over 40,000 photographs on four extensive expeditions across the country. Each copy is printed only on demand. It uses a roll of paper longer than a football field, more than a gallon of ink and 24 hours' printing time.

The book covers the diversity that Bhutan has to offer. The portraits of people are life-size or bigger, and the panoramas convey some of the staggering sweep of the mountains and the ancient architecture.

Michael Hawley of MIT, the book's creator, did the best to achieve maximum image quality out of his professional-grade cameras. He proved that digital images are every bit as good if not better than traditional film photographs. It is currently for sale on Amazon.com for $10,000.
